Transition of Kazakh into Latin would simplify mobile applications
A new mobile application will help to learn Latin-script-based Kazakh alphabet. This method of learning the Latin script is also the most convenient for young people. Members of Kazakhstan’s Ethnic assembly, deputies of the Maslikhat in Almaty, and young members of ethno-cultural associations discussed the tasks outlined in the article of President Nazarbayev.
VSEVOLOD LUKASHOV, CHAIRMAN, RUSSIAN CULTURAL CENTER:
- Every Kazakhstan citizen has a smartphone. We will make every effort in helping people learn the Kazakh alphabet based on the Latin script. This is a step-by-step approach that will let people quickly learn the Latin alphabet.
GEORGY KAN, MEMBER, SCIENTIFIC EXPERT COUNCIL, KAZAKHSTAN’S ETHNIC ASSEMBLY:
- For instance, a concrete project ‘Tugan Zher’ with real people involved in it is a program for promotion of local history, preservation of Kazakhstan’s sacred places. Every corner of Kazakhstan has its sacred place, people should know them, should be able to read them. There are many people who contributed to the county’s development over the years of independence and created many things that need to be shown.
"Tugan Zher" program will promote patriotism among people of Kazakhstan. Ust-Kamenogorsk German cultural center’s representatives are in tune with the Kazakh President’s article. The center’s director Evgeny Schumacher believes that every person should contribute to a country’s prosperity. The center is engaged in social work. They organize free of charge foreign language courses. Members of the ethnic association provide permanent support to pensioners.
EVGENY SCHUMACHER, DIRECTOR, GERMAN CULTURAL CENTER, EAST KAZAKHSTAN REGION:
- Everyone should make a small contribution in order to make some good changes every day, every week and every month, at least something. For instance, blood pressure tonometers were distributed to people for free: 60 in Zyryanovsk and another 60 here. This is a good deed! We are happy!
Chairman of the Kazakh cultural center in the UK welcomed the transition to the Latin script. The new script will make Kazakh culture accessible for both Kazakhs living in Europe and all other Turkic nations, the expert says.
ISMAIL KESIGI, HEAD OF KAZAKH CULTURAL CENTER IN UK:
- Transition to Latin script will let other nations understand our writing. We will have an opportunity to unite with Azarbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. Their people will be able to read about our culture and vice versa. When the culture becomes common, we will become more connected with the Turkic world. Cultural rapprochement brings nations closer.
