DEVELOPMENT OF PETROCHEMICAL CLUSTER
Kazakhstani plant is developing new types of petroleum products to be exported abroad. The new plant for production of Euro-5 ecological motor fuel was launched in the West Kazakhstan region end of last year. The plant’s capacity has grown fourfold from 200,000 to 800,000 tons of fuel. The project worth almost $169 million was mostly financed by the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, which allocated more than 70% of the required funds. A vacuum distillation section has been launched at the plant. This allows processing of heavy petroleum products and increase the yield of light and clarified fuel to 90%.
EDUARD DZHUNUSSOV, DIRECTOR GENERAL, OIL PROCESSING COMPANY:
- We will produce vacuum gas and tar. The tar will be used for the production of bitumen, both roofing and road. The first batch of vacuum gas has been already sent to the refinery of Finland's Neste in early May.
The oil processing plant in Shymkent will launch production of Euro-4 and Euro-5 high-octane gasoline starting from July. This will be the end of the first stage of modernization. At present, the enterprise is carrying out commissioning works of the isomerization unit for light gasoline fractions. This equipment will allow producing high quality fuel. The plant’s first modernization stage resulted in the installation of the sulfur production equipment with a capacity of 4,000 tons per year. The existing diesel hydro treating unit has been reconstructed; light oil products pressurized filling equipment’s construction has been completed.
TALGAT MAKUOV, SENIOR STAFF, OIL REFINERY:
- By the end of the first stage, we will technically be able to produce Euro-4 and Euro-5 gasoline, and diesel fuel. RON-80 low-octane gasoline will be produced to cover domestic demand if necessary. At the same time, production of high-octane gasoline can increase by 460,000 tons per year, diesel fuel by 226,000 tons per year, aviation kerosene by 27,000 tons per year.
