MODERNIZATION OF PUBLIC CONSENT
Modernization of the humanitarian sphere is a necessary component on the way to global competitiveness, Ukrainian political analyst Dmitry Levus believes. The expert considers Kazakhstan's readiness to switch to the Latin alphabet as a progressive and strategically correct way to integrate into the global modernization process.
DMITRY LEVUS, DIRECTOR, PUBLIC STUDIES CENTER:
- Switching Kazakh alphabet to the Latin script will indicate the formation of a single Turkic space and that Kazakhstan truly aspires to enter the top 30 or 20 world’s most developed countries, in fact, the republic can become the leading one among the Turkic states or among Central Asian states.
There crucially important skills required from any professional in the modern age. They are computer literacy, foreign language skills, cultural awareness or open-mindedness. This is also stated in the article of the Head of State "The Course towards Future: Modernization of Public Consciousness". In this regard, British experts have suggested developing student exchange programs to allow Kazakh students to better learn English.
GEORGE HUNT, DIRECTOR, DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, TEESSIDE UNIVERSITY:
- We have some school programs where students can exchange for one or two weeks. We are also now developing joint Master’s programs as well, so students will do one year here in Almaty and take the second year in the UK. This will mean a half access to all of our facilities.
The Kazakh President stressed in his article that competitiveness is the main prerequisite for success of a nation or an individual. Representatives of the Turkish ethno-cultural center in Almaty believe that peaceful co-existence of 130 ethnic groups in one country is Kazakhstan’s main advantage, and now the task of each citizen is to improve their professional skills.
SHAKHISMAIL ASSIYEV, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN, TURKISH ETHNOCULTURAL CENTER:
- The 21st century citizens, especially young people, should be educated, skillful, have strong moral character and speak English, the language used worldwide for people’s communication and negotiations in political or business sphere.
