Kazakhstan is expanding exports of agricultural products. Kazakh agrarians are actively entering the markets of neighboring countries. Agricultural producers in the South Kazakhstan region are already shipping the first crop of cabbage for export to Russia. 780 hectares were sown this year. Vegetables are sold from the fields. One company buys up to 100 tons of products in a week.

 - The cabage is really good. The company works with all regional and federal suppliers. Therefore, I am here, to see the farm and the varieties and the harvesting.

Berik Baiymbetov has been a farmer for many years. He started just with several hundred hectares of land. It took several years to select a suitable variety of cabbage. These cabbages are small and ripen in just 58 days. It is easy to collect and store.

 - Customers from Kazan purchase cabbages for 145 tenge per kilogram. This is one of our main advantages. Besides, the produce is organic. We send 15 to 20 wagons of cabbage daily. Later, we will start exporting melons.

This is a busy season for farmers in southern Kazakhstan. More than 40,000 hectares have been allocated for vegetables. Farmers are reaping a good harvest this year. Karaganda region’s production volumes are as high as in the southern Kazakhstan. A profitable business is generated in Topar village. Lemon Grove beared 40 tons of fruit last year. The harvest has already been exported and sold out to grocery chains. Now the remaining areas of the greenhouse are occupied with other exotic fruits - pomegranate, oranges and papaya. Topari products are famous for their quality and for being organic. They are grown in a coconut shaving substrate. Pests are not contested by chemicals. The laboratory creates insects that fight pests and constitute a kind of diet for plants.

 - Having placed emphasis on nutrition, we increased our production volumes by  collecting nearly 425 tons from 8 hectares in March. This is the maximum I have ever collected from this piece of land.

The greenhouses have been undergoing modernization for three months. They have  installed drip irrigation system and lighting system. It allows to "deceive" flora in the winter months. Israeli bumblebees pollinate the plants. Topar village’s vegetables and fruits are famous beyond Kazakhstan. Russian customers started buying them last year. Polish and Israeli companies intend to implement joint projects on the greenhouse territory.
