MODERNISATION OF PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS
Article titled “Course towards the future: modernisation of Kazakhstan’s identity” by President Nazarbayev outlinines steps for modernisation of social norms and priorities. The article is mainly written for young people, says the First Deputy Chairman of the Nur Otan Party, as they are the future of the country. Mukhtar Kul-Mukhamed recommends that scientists, teachers and especially students carefully study the new publication by Nursultan Nazarbayev.
MUKHTAR KUL-MUKHAMMED, FIRST DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON, NUR OTAN PARTY:
- The article has a deep message and covers a variety of issues. The implementation of the steps outlined in the article will allow our nation to grow spiritually to a new level. The main message is directed at you, the generation of independence.
The new article by Nursultan Nazarbayev is an up-to-date document. German expert on Central Asia, Hubert Tilike belivies the piece defines strategic goals for balanced social development.
HUBERT TILIKE, EXPERT ON CENTRAL ASIA:
- Today I read an article by President Nursultan Nazarbayev. I think there are many interesting initiatives and programs in it. Kazakhstan is developing rapidly and the country needs an economic modernisation and modernisation of its social consciousness. This is a timely proposal from the president, since it is very important to keep pace with the global development and be open to new knowledge. An important point, in my opinion, is the view on popularising trilingualism and educating the young people abroad. Kazakhstan has already trained tens of thousands of specialists abroad. They perfectly speak English. And this is a huge contribution to the development of the state. It is necessary to be open to global progress and at the same time not to forget one's culture, language and history. That is the key to the success of the state.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s proposal to transfer the Kazakh alphabet based on the Cyrillic script to Latin did not become as a surprise, according to Andrejs Mamikins (читается как Andrey Mamykin), the member of the European Parliament from Latvia. This political decision is wise and timely, he says.
ANDREJS MAMIKINS, MEMBER OF EU PARLIAMENT FROM LATVIA:
- This is probably in the blood of the Kazakhs, in their thousand-year-old history to do everything gradually, step by step, not to fuss, to weigh and think many times. Kazakhstan has prepared for a very long time and the recent address of President Nazarbayev is not a sensation. As the leader of the nation he said that now is the time and that the country can gradually move to the Latin alphabet. This approach, I would say, of course, is a good example for many European politicians, I am sure of that.
