Kazakhstan continues work as member of UN Security Council
Kazakhstan will make a positive contribution to the work of the UN Security Council. Kazakhstan's favorable geographical position, good relations with Russia, China, the U.S. and Europe can facilitate the peacekeeping mission, Belgium's Federal Parliament member said.
Sweden became the UN Security Council’s non-permanent member for 2017-18 together with Kazakhstan. Both countries won the seats after scoring the highest number of votes. At present, Sweden and Kazakhstan work jointly in the main body of the peacekeeping organization.
OLOF SKOOG, PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SWEDEN TO UN:
We’ve only just started but we have very high expectations working with Kazakhstan. We are very pleased that we will be joined by Kazakhstan on the Security Council.
The UN Security Council will cooperate with Kazakhstan in solving such issues as conflict settlement, peacemaking, nuclear-free world program and some other.
