Kazakhstan’s car industry shows confident growth
Kazakhstan’s car industry enterprises have manufactured nearly 11,000 cars worth more than 62 billion tenge since the beginning of 2016. Experts expect the same positive trend in the industry this year. One of the growth factors is the production of new car models at the country’s largest factory in Ust-Kamenogorsk. "Asia-Auto" is the leader of the Kazakh automotive industry. Its production capacity is 60,000 cars per year. At present, the factory’s workers are mastering the production of new models.
ALMAS TOKTARBEKOV, TEST SITE TECHNICIAN:
We manufacture good quality cars. They are assembled and tested with high-tech equipment. At present, we release about 30 cars per day, but in the future we are planning to expand production.
Meanwhile, cargo equipment manufacturing sector demonstrated growth last year. Car assembly plant "SemAZ," that celebrated its 10th anniversary, has assembled over 8,000 tractors, thousands of buses and trucks during this period.
BEKZAT TURASHEV, PLANT’S SENIOR ENGINEER:
At this workshop, the trucks are equipped with glass sets, decoration panels, rear and front bumpers, headlights, filled with fluid, also parts for cargo boxes are assembled here.
The plant is actively increasing the local content which makes up 40% of the production cycle at present. The leader product is the Shacman truck. Component parts for it are imported from China. However, the plant started manufacturing other parts of the truck.
The production line of buses is being upgraded at the plant now. It is planned to manufacture not only distant travel cars but also tourist buses.
ASSEMKHAN DOSKUZHANOV, PLANT’S DIRECTOR:
We are planning to assemble up to 500 buses, 2,000 tractors and 1,000 trucks per year. There are many government programs that will help to implement all our tasks.
In the near future, the car assembly plant will open a new workshop for manufacturing of components. Meanwhile, Kostanay car assembly plant intends to increase production as well. It is aimed to release up to 12,000 cars in 2017.
SERGEY MOGILATOV, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, KOSTANAY CAR ASSEMBLY PLANT:
2017 will be remarkable. I believe that those tasks that we have set are achievable. We have mastered the assembly of electric vehicles. This is a cutting-edge production. We have made a lot of semi knocked down assembly models such as Peugeot and Hyundai. They are the new models for the Kazakh market, and these models are already on sale.
