Our compatriot wrote a song «I am from Kazakhstan», which is now sung by Americans. After studying at school and the College of Music in Semey, Diaz Mussalimov came to conquer America. The road to stardom has not been easy. At the time it was necessary to forget about a career in music and work in various fields. Then Diaz entered the University of Norfolk in Virginia. After successful completion of high school, he was invited to do Master’s at New York University where he studies and works part time teaching vocal to young students. In addition, the vocalist gives solo concerts. Diaz performs in different genres: classical music and jazz, pop music and opera.
DIAZ MUSSALIMOV, KAZAKHSTANI VOCALIST:
Firstly, I am very proud to be a citizen of Kazakhstan. More recently, I wrote a song «I am from Kazakhstan», which made a splash on Birdland stage - famous, historical jazz club. The song was so catchy, that people who went to the concert sang «I am from Kazakhstan». I am very proud and happy to represent my country at any event I attend.
SANDRA DAKOTA, PRODUCER:
Diaz is very special. His gift is a wonderful voice with such a great range and opportunity for him is vast because he can actually sing in so many different genres of music from pop to jazz.
VIKTOR SIDABRAS, HEAD OF DIPLOMATIC PLATFORM, PRESS CLUB BRUSSELS:
As a former U.S. diplomat for 29 years I have seen a lot of cultural performances but tonight was outstanding. When Diaz sang I mean he captured the New York spirit with his American song.
