Kazakhstan’s mining companies increase production capacities
During the years of independence, many new mining fields have been developed in Kazakhstan. But the main achievement, according to experts, has been the opening of the processing plants. One of them is located in Enbekshilder district of Akmola region. The production capacity of the plant for extraction and processing of iron ore totals 2.4 million tons per year. The iron concentrate is sent to the Temirtau Metallurgical Plant. A few years ago, the crushing and concentrating plant was been built in the district, where the production of magnetic ore has been launched.
EVGENY SMIRNOV, CHIEF ENGINEER, MINING ENTERPRISE:
In addition, we produce martite and magnetic ores. Then, they are processed at the crushing and concentrating factory, where with the use of magnetic separation the average content of 35-39% iron is produced. As a result, we produce 54% iron content. After the factory’s launch, we started to produce better products.
The major enterprise possesses ore reserves totaling 21 million tons.
ALEXANDER LUNAU, CHIEF OF TECHNICAL CONTROL DEPARTMENT:
We supply batches to Temirtau. Currently, we ship 30,000 tons of products according to the plan. Duirng summer we ship 40,000-45,000 tons. Compared with previous years, we have increased the quality of the finished product and the shipping capacity.
A complex on processing of gold-bearing ores was launched in the village of Sarykengir in Karaganda region. The geologists have been conducting exploration for more than 5 years at the Zhaltyrbulak field. At the complex, one ton of gold will be processed out of one million tons of ore annually. The factory has its own laboratory. The project cost amounts to nearly 3.5 billion tenge.
SERGEY VERPETA, DIRECTOR, BRANCH OF PRECIOUS METALS PRODUCING ENTERPRISE:
In 2017, we plan the design and construction of Dore plant, to supply Kazakhstan with the finished products, three nines fine gold and Dore bars.
The three nines fine gold is the purest gold. The precious metal of such probe is called bank gold bar. The Dore alloy, which is planned to be produced at the complex, will contain not less than 70% of precious metals. Meanwhile, commissioning works are underway at the Aktogay concentrating factory in eastern Kazakhstan. The industrial facility for processing of sulfide ore has been launched in the region. It is planned to produce copper concentrate in the first quarter in 2017. The project is expected to give a significant impetus for the regional economy.
BAKHYTZHAN BAYAKHMETOV, GOVERNOR OF AYAGOZ DISTRICT:
The sulfide factory’s production capacity will total 90,000 tons of copper and 15 thousand on the oxide factory. The next year, we expect indicators on the production volumes in the district amounting to 37 billion tenge. A year later, after entering full capacity, the production will increase twofold.
