EBRD’s investments in development of Kyzylorda region
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will invest 250 billion tenge in infrastructure projects in Kyzylorda region. Construction works have already started on several projects aimed at modernization of passenger transport systems, automation and expansion of municipal infrastructure.
Thomas MAIER, MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR INFRASTRUCTURE, EBRD:
In the past we have concentrated on transport and district going forward. We are covering the remained services, including LD lighting of the streets of Kyzylorda and we hope to sign that in February, when I will be in Kazakhstan.
In addition, at the end of October this year, the regional governor’s office and the city mayor’s office, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and operating company signed an agreement to implement the project on recycling of municipal solid waste in Kyzylorda. The project also envisages development of clean electricity and thermal energy from biogas.

I think that in the future the cost of projects implemented with the major international financial institution as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will reach $1 billion. We are actively following the instruction of the Kazakh President to attract funds from international financial organizations, as well as the implementation of public-private partnership projects.
In addition, the parties discussed the plans for construction of a new passenger terminal of the airport in Kyzylorda and reconstruction of the highway Kyzylorda - Zhezkazgan - Karaganda.
