Experts on Kazakhstan’s election to UN Security Council
One of the major achievements in 25 years of Kazakhstan’s independence is the country’s election to the UN Security Council – the vent that has drawn the attention of many politicians and experts. According to the Russian diplomats, Kazakhstan’s election as a non-permanent member of the organization is a sign of trust of the international community and recognition of the importance of the initiatives proposed by Kazakhstan, particularly the anti-nuclear measures.
Petr ILIICHEV, FIRST DEPUTY PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF RUSSIA TO UN:
We are extremely confident that Kazakhstan will be able to worthily carry out its responsibilities in the Security Council. Strategic, political, economic, cultural partnerships closely link Russia with Kazakhstan. We highly value the initiatives and active role of Kazakhstan in the international arena. For instance, there is Kazakhstan’s initiative on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia. International Day against Nuclear Tests is also the merit of Kazakhstan. Thanks to President Nursultan Nazarbayev, we support and continue the initiative of the Day Free from Nuclear Explosions.
