Turkish businessmen invested nearly $2 billion in the Kazakh economy

Over the years of Kazakhstan’s independence, Turkish businessmen invested nearly $2 billion in the Kazakh economy. The funds were mainly attracted to implementation of joint construction projects. Turkey is one of the major investors in Kazakhstan. Today, the two countries are strategic partners. In 25 years, the countries have established cooperation in almost all spheres. At the recent conference, chiefs of the Commerce Chambers and Turkish businessmen discussed ways of expanding trade and economic cooperation and determined future prospects.

The most important issue today is attracting investments to the industrial and manufacturing sectors. In attracting investments to manufacturing, we can say that South Kazakhstan region ranks first. Since the first industrial zone in the country was established in Southern Kazakhstan. Currently 17 companies are operating in this area.

Turkish entrepreneurs learnt about special economic zones in Kazakhstan, about tax benefits and one-stop-shop paperwork system. Over the years of Kazakhstan’s Independence, 30 Turkish companies have implemented over 450 projects worth $22 billion, says the chairman of the Turkish Contractors Union Mithat Yenigun. According to him, Kazakhstan is one of the most attractive countries in terms of investments in Eurasia.

The cost of oil, gas and other energy resources in the world market has been declining for three years in a row. We understand that earnings of countries exporting these commodities are falling. What is the way out of this situation? For instance, Kazakhstan mobilized as much as possible its forces to attract foreign investors for implementation of industrial projects.

Turkish entrepreneurs are attracted to the investment climate in Kazakhstan and are also interested in the incentives and tax benefits. Foreign businessmen intend to invest in food and textile industries in Southern Kazakhstan. They are ready to consider all forms of cooperation.
