Kazakhstan promotes its international initiatives concerning regional and global issues. The UN Resident Coordinator for Kazakhstan Norimasa Shimomura and the Senate Chairman Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed the preparation progress for presentation of the goals of the UN Sustainable Development Program. According to the Speaker of the upper chamber of the Kazakh Parliament, this will help the parliament members to learn about the implementation of large-scale projects and their alignment with Kazakhstan’s legislation. Kazakhstan seeks for cooperation with the UN in implementation of 17 goals that are outlined in the new agenda on 2030 Sustainable Development. In addition, Senate’s Chairman welcomed the election of Antonio Guterres on the post of the UN Secretary General and expressed confidence that extensive experience will help him in his work. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has also noted Ban Ki-Moon’s outstanding contribution to development and adoption of Paris Climate Agreement and interreligious dialogue.
