New ferries to travel to Baku from Kuryk port
Construction of the ferry complex in Kuryk port is almost completed. The project cost is 31 billion tenge. It is planned to launch the first starting complex by the end of this year. It is expected that it will ensure the transshipment to the Caspian states and further to Europe without unloading cargo from wagons. Up to five ferries will be served there every day. Thus, the complex capacity will be four million tons of ferry cargo per year. Already, freight traffic in the direction of Baku-Aktau-Baku increased by more than a third. In addition, free trade zone will be created in the port of Kuryk. The construction of the ferry complex in the port of Kuryk was launched as part of "Nurly Zhol" program in 2015.
Mukhit BAIDULLAYEV, HEAD OF FERRY COMPLEX CONSTRUCTION PROJECT IN KURYK PORT:
The project is very important and economically beneficial for our country. Not only the trains but also wagons and passenger cars will be transported via this ferry complex. About 200 local residents were provided with jobs at this ferry complex. We will also unload the northern seaport.
