Prime minister of Kazakhstan visits Baikonur
The general development plan of Baikonur and its surrounding settlements Toretam and Akay was presented to the Prime Minister Karim Massimov during his visit to Kyzylorda region. In addition, the Prime Minister visited a number of social facilities of the town, was introduced with the activities of Araltuz enterprise. Karim Massimov held a meeting on the restoration of water infrastructure of irrigated lands. According to experts, their total area has decreased by almost half in the country over the last 25 years. At the same time 35% of the farmland was deteriorated due to the inefficient use of water and drainage systems. It is proposed to speed up work on implementing the necessary projects and introduce new irrigated lands in turn.

Over 600 thousand hectares of agricultural land should be put into circulation. This will allow us to create about two thousand new jobs and, increase the volume of gross output on 600 billion tenge. It’s almost 20% of current rates.
