Nursultan Nazarbayev meets with director general of UNESCO
The President Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova. During the meeting the sides discussed issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNESCO in the preservation of cultural and historical heritage, the expansion of international relations in the sphere of education and science. Kazakh President noted that our country actively cooperates and supports UNESCO.
Nursultan NAZARBAYEV, PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:
We have established good relations with UNESCO. This organization, which is called the ‘conscience of humanity’, protects the traditions and cultural values. Many of the significant dates of Kazakhstan culture were marked by UNESCO.
In turn, Irina Bokova stressed that initiatives, put forward by Kazakhstan for the rapprochement of cultures, play an important role in strengthening the harmony in the world. She also noticed that the conducting the General Conference of the organization in the year of its 70th anniversary would has been impossible without the participation of the President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
