Latin alphabet is an opportunity to increase Kazakhstan’s global competitiveness
The transition to the Latin alphabet is an opportunity to increase Kazakhstan’s global competitiveness and to accelerate integration with the world’s scientific, educational, technological and communication community. First of all, the country is developing the methods for the Latin script teaching. It is important to take into account all the rules of orthoepy and spelling of the new alphabet. Teachers of Taraz have already started to work on this matter. The teachers intend to learn from the Turkish colleagues in the Karabuk University.
TURSYNAI ABDYKADYROVA, HEAD, KAZAKH PHILOLOGY , TARAZ STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY:
- Scientists of the Kazakh philology and Latin script department are working on development of methodical programs on the transition to the Latin alphabet. We have a big goal to accomplish. It is important to work with not only schools and institutions, but also we should tell about the benefits from the new alphabet via a number of activities.
Every citizen can learn about the possibilities of the new alphabet. The Hall of Latin was opened in the National Academic Library. The library offers educational courses, seminars, trainings and consultations of linguists. In addition, the hall presents an exhibition of books and periodicals in Latin published between 1929 and 1940. The exhibition will be updated constantly. The Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports will open trainings and centers in libraries of the country.
