Kazakhstan on the edge of globalization
The transition to the Latin is a appropriate step for Kazakhstan on the edge of globalization. The new alphabet will facilitate communications between Kazakhstan people and the whole world. International media covered the transition to the Latin alphabet, too. According to representatives of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international journalists highlight the positive aspects of the Kazakh language reform.
TALGAT ZHUMAGULOV, CHAIRMAN, KAZAKH COMMITTEE FOR INTERNATIONAL INFORMATION:
- Since a publication of the program article of the Head of State on Modernization of Public Consciousness, the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been conducting systematic worka to explain a decision to introduce the new script. Moreover, analytical work is carried out to study experiences of other countries that have switched to the Latin script, too.
The Kazakh teaching classes opened in Aktobe. The classes are located in libraries, where employees actively study the Kazakh words’ spellings in Latin. In addition, courses are open for all and are held three times a week. It is planned to open such centers in each library of Aktobe. The Saktagan Baishev scientific library organized a special exhibition which presented archival documents, printed publications, books and magazines in the Latin alphabet.

- People who want to study the Latin script can study in these classes. If children learn a new alphabet in schools, then what should adults do? Where should they go? Adults can get everything they need in such classes.
