Astana Ballet performs in Paris
The best examples of national and contemporary choreographic art of Kazakhstan were presented in Paris. The troupe of the Astana Ballet Theater performed in the legendary Salle Pleyel concert hall. The performance was the final chord of Kazakhstan artists in the large-scale presentation of the Modernization of Public consciousness program in the French capital. The music was carefully selected for the performance. It was both classical and modern works of Kazakh composers and European neo-classical music.
DILARA SHOMIYEVA, BALLET DANCER, ASTANA BALLET THEATRE:
- It turned out that Love Fear Loss ballet dedicated to the work of Edith Piaf and the theme of love in general will open this performance in Paris, in the city of love. I dance the very first Pas de deux. The opening of the evening will be a duet, which symbolizes love, the emergence of feelings.
The Parisians loved the modern production of the Brazilian choreographer Ricardo Amarante. This is multi-genre miniatures about the eternal theme of love.
MIKHAIL SHEMYAKIN, CITIZEN OF FRANCE:
- Artists are people who build bridges between cultures, and this is how cultural rapprochement begins. I have worked at the Mariinsky Theater for eight years and have staged many ballet productions in Bulgaria and in Hungary. The performance was at a very high level! There is a national motif, which is very important, and, plasticity of eastern women is extraordinary!
One-act tango ballet "A Fuego Lento" lures spectators away to the world of love, and "The Legacy of the Great Steppe" to the boundless Kazakh expanses. The versatility and riot of colors on the stage gave an unforgettable impression.
YI CHOW, AMERICAN FILM PRODUCER:
- So much contamination between Asian music and costumes with a lot of contemporary
JOAO MANUEL SEBASTIAO NETO, COUNSELLOR, PERMANENT DELEGATION OF ANGOLA TO UNESCO:
- I was happy to discover rich Kazakh culture and art. This ballet was extraordinary!
Kazakh dancers’ performance finished with a scene from the famous "Cleopatra", about the little-known period of life of the Egyptian queen. The sophisticated French public did not let Kazakh artists leave the stage for a long time. Astana ballet theatre’s tour will continue. The troupe will perform in Brussels in early November, and then in other major cities of Europe and the world.
