China to help promoting Kazakh IT startups on international arena

China intends to support Kazakh startups. The corresponding memorandum was signed between the ‘Astana Hub’ international technopark of IT startups and the ‘Zhongguancun’ technology hub located in Beijing as part of the international cooperation between the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The parties hope that the signed agreement will support the development of the ecosystem of Kazakhstan. Most importantly, Kazakh innovation projects will now be promoted on the international scene.

“It is planned to conduct training events aimed at popularizing the development of investment culture and solving urgent tasks for the region, as well as the global industry. The events will include the holding of the joint acceleration and incubation programs, as well as the exchange programs for startups and experts in certain areas,” the Astana Hub’s press office reported.

Zhongguancun, known as China’s ‘Silicon Valley’, proposed opening a representative office in Kazakhstan as part of the international development program. There is a chance that in the future the new Zhongguancun Science Park (Z-Park) will be opened on the territory of the Astana Hub. The Z-Park will act as an additional engine to stimulate the development of Kazakh IT startups. Zhongguancun might become the agency for the promotion of Kazakh high-tech companies – it will help young Kazakh developers to implement their most creative ideas.

China’s technology park is already closely cooperating with countries such as Japan, Ukraine, Australia, Germany, Serbia, Nepal, Switzerland, France, Russia and Canada. Now the Zhongguancun is set to establish the cooperation with the Kazakh center for the startups’ development as well.
