A young Kazakh scientist invented new organic fertilizer for land restoration

A young Kazakh scientist invented new organic fertilizer for land restoration. The invention of Daulet Yegemberdiyev called the Bio-meliorant will restore the degraded and saline lands and significantly increase crop yields. Kazakh farmers are interested in affordable and efficient development. The invention was recognized as the best by the ‘School of a Young Entrepreneur’ project.

DAULET YEGEMBERDIYEV, SCIENTIST:

 - The cost of the Bio-meliorant is estimated at 16 Tenge per kilogram. It can be used in a form of a liquid for drip irrigation and it can also use in a dry form. Productivity is higher by 5-10 times. In the traditional method, (which is currently being used,) 30-35 tonnes should be put to 40 tonnes of phosphogypsum and manure together. The biomeliorant of 300-500 kilograms replace these 35 tonnes.

In 20 days at a small plant, a scientist received a biomeliorant for production of biofertilizers. It consists of manure, phosphogypsum and camel thorn. Environmentally friendly products are used as organic fertilizer. Experts say that humus content in the soil of the Zhambyl region has reached a low level. This results in the salt marshes.

KAMBAR TURSUNBAYEV, SENIOR LECTURER, TARAZ STATE UNIVERSITY:

 - Salted lands that are five years old can be restored and returned to use. One of the properties is the restoration and increase of the humus content. Currently, we, who have agricultural land, have only 1% of humus.

This year the Bio-meliorant was first used in the Talas region.  Sugar beets and onions were grown on 120 hectares of experimental field. The yield increased by five times. (Experts say that the new fertilizer was a real salvation for farmers.)

YERLAN KULKEYEV, SPOKESPERSON, AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT, ZHAMBYL REGION:

 - Now our soils are exhausted.  With the Bio-meliorant developed by a young scientist, we have new opportunities. We will fertilize our lands and increase yields.

The issue of mass production of fertilizers is being addressed. Daulet Yegemberdiyev plans another five promising projects in agriculture and the oil and gas processing industry.
