Digital transformation of the ‘Nur Zholy’ new checkpoint

Digital transformation has become the main area of development for all large companies and institutions. The ‘Nur Zholy’ new checkpoint on the Kazakh-Chinese border is not an exception. The checkpoint meets the highest international standards. Due to modern technologies, heavy trucks can be inspected in 40 minutes. Previously, all procedures took an entire day. The human factor is minimized as well.

ALEKSANDER ARTYOMOV, SPOKESPERSON, FINNISH FINANCIAL COMPANY:

 - There are no analogues to this system in the world. New technologies are applied to measure weight dimensions. A car is weighed on the go and it all runs at a speed of 5 km / h.

The ‘Nur Zholy’ automobile checkpoint is one of the major projects implemented in recent years in Central Asia. The track is eight-lane. Its potential capacity is 2,500 vehicles per day in both directions. In 1.5 month of work, the facility received more than 3,000 heavy trucks and almost 5,000 tourists.

ILYAS ZHAILIBAYEV, SPOKESPERSON, TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS CENTER:

 - Through the customs post, 1,500 cars passed to Kazakhstan. Almost the same number of cars passed to China as well. The total weight of goods amounted to 39 tonnes worth two billion Tenge. The budget received 310 million Tenge.

YERBOL ARINOV, DIRECTOR, CUSTOMS POST:

 - In terms of technologies, this checkpoint is well equipped. We have to adjust our work and improve the technological process. If we see some weaknesses and strengths, we will significantly increase the throughput comparing to what we have now.

The project was implemented based on a public-private partnership. More than 70 billion Tenge was invested in the project. In the future, an additional of 11 billion Tenge will be attracted and the facility’s potential will be increased.
