The Suleyman Demirel University hosted the sixth international computer project competition, INFOMATRIX-ASIA. Young scientists from Central Asia, the United States, Europe and Africa took part in the competition. Young researchers competed in seven nominations, particularly, Mathematics, robotics, programming, computer graphics and art, as well as control systems, short films and drone racing.
TASHKYN AKHMET, CONTESTANT:
- The drone is not homemade. I ordered different parts on the Internet and collected it myself. This is a motherboard. I intend to win the competition. I trained well. If I win, next year I'll become a member of the drone racing jury.
The 450 schoolchildren from 15 countries took part in the competition. The winners will be awarded with scholarships to study at the Suleyman Demirel University. The purpose of the contest is to improve the computer science skills of young people, to develop the intercultural dialogue and cooperation as well as to strengthen Kazakhstan's image in the global information community.
MEIRBEK MAZHITOV, PRESIDENT, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, SULEYMAN DEMIREL UNIVERSITY:
- The further development of the information technology is of high importance. Schoolchildren in Kazakhstan can discuss their projects not only with their fellow people but also with their foreign colleagues. They can exchange opinions with their foreign peers in computer science.
The annual international competition has been held since 2013. During this time, more than 300 young scientists became owners of state scholarships.
