Scientists of Nazarbayev University invented innovative sulfur batteries
Domestic scientists of Nazarbayev University invented innovative sulfur batteries. The uniqueness of Kazakh know-how is in its high power, energy efficiency, and safety. In addition, according to the developers, the additional advantage is its low cost and use of local raw materials. The batteries are used in renewable energy, electric cars, and electronics. The project increased great interest among foreign colleagues at the international conference on nanomaterials and advanced energy storage systems.
ZHUMABAI BAKENOV, DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR ENERGY, NATIONAL LABORATORY ASTANA AT NAZARBAYEV UNIVERSITY:
- They have higher capacity. They will work 10 times longer. These batteries haven’t been produced yet in the world. They can be recharged from 30 seconds up to a minute.
Today the Nazarbayev University scientists are engaged in the development of all types of batteries. According to forecasts, the batteries have a promising future.
