ЕХРО 2017: national day of Spain
Don Quixote, passionate flamenco and an open-air theater: the national day of Spain was opened with a beautiful show at the EXPO town. Chairman of the Congress of Deputies of Spain, Ana Pastor, arrived to attend the important event. Spain has a considerable experience in organization of expo. During a visit to the expo in Saragossa city, the Kazakh President came up with the idea to host the exhibition in Astana.
ANA PASTOR, CHAIRMAN OF CONGRESS OF DEPUTIES, SPAIN:
- We are very pleased to participate in the EXPO in Kazakhstan and contribute to the development of green energy in the world. Diplomatic relations of our countries last for 25 years and I should say, it is very fruitful, for which we express our gratitude to the President of the country, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Participation in the exhibition is also a good chance for Spain to announce its developments.
The Spanish Pavilion is designed in a creative and metaphorical style which presents the country's latest know-how. Spain holds the second place in Europe and the fifth in the world in the development of wind energy. Spain introduces its technologies in more than 70 countries. For example, the floor covering of the pavilion’s room is made entirely from recyclable materials and this have already become typical for Spanish people.
CARMEN BUENO, DIRECTOR OF SPANISH EXPO PAVILION:
- 40% of energy is generated from renewables in our country. Firstly, we have a good geographical location; we have lots of sun and wind, almost like in Kazakhstan. Secondly, we have developed technologies in this sphere.
Spanish island of Hierro generates 100% of energy from wind and the sun. More than a thousand wind farms function productively in the kingdom. Green energy in the country not only saves funds but also brings a solid revenue. Spain receives an average of 2.5 billion euros per year from the export of innovative developments in this area.
More than 130,000 people visited Spanish pavilion. In addition to innovative developments, Spain presents a rich cultural program. Visitors will enjoy theatrical productions and festival of Spanish cinema in July and August.
FERNANDO BENZO, COMMISSIONER OF SPANISH EXPO PAVILION:
- Celebrations are not limited to one National Day. The week of Spain begins soon. Our guests will be able to see "Flamenco" performance, daily performances of the street theater, and the famous Don Quixote, and of course, try Spanish cuisine.
