SILICON VALLEY CORNER OPENS AT EXPO 2017
The Silicon Valley corner has been opened at the EXPO 2017. Here, leading companies are showcasing their startups. Kazakhstan is strengthening cooperation with the leading new technology innovators as part of the Digital Kazakhstan program implementation. The latest developments include application for controlling and monitoring sowing works, development of Cashless City program. The latter lets people to make most of their daily payments via smartphones, smart watches and other gadgets. The similar development Social Map program is being tested in Astana.

- We will provide special cards so people can use to pay for transport and food. They will be able to make any payments with one card. This is a new advanced trend that is being introduced worldwide. We are planning to finish testing it in Astana by the end of the year and introduce it starting from next year as part of Digital Kazakhstan program.
Smart City project has been presented at the Silicon Valley Corner. Nearly 200 lanterns in one of the streets in Astana were replaced by new remote control lamps. According to developers, the project is beneficial. Transition to LED lightening will save up to 50% of electricity.

- Brightness can be adjusted and most importantly we will not have to turn them on and off, the lamps work remotely. There is no electricity supply on the feeder pillars during the daytime, here the electricity supply can be permanent and pillars can be used to provide power for additional services such as video surveillance and the internet access points.
Companies showcasing their projects in the Silicon Valley corner will change every week. In three months, visitors will be able to see a variety of digital projects.
