Kazakhstan prepares for possible second wave of coronavirus, says Health Minister

Kazakh Health Ministry does not exclude another possible coronavirus outbreak. Today, at a briefing in the Central Communications Service, Kazakh Health Minister Alexey Tsoy announced that the country prepares for the possible second wave of the infection. He provided examples of states with the increasing number of cases, such as Italy, Spain, Germany, Turkey and South Korea. At the same time, the disease spread in CIS countries is five times higher than in Kazakhstan.

“This situation is alarming. Kazakhstan is preparing, like all countries, for a possible second wave of the rise of coronavirus cases,” noted Alexey Tsoy.

Preparation for the possible outbreak is not just words. 71,126 hospital beds for patients are planned to be established across the country.

“15 percent of the bed capacity is loaded by patients with coronavirus or novel coronavirus pneumonia. We planned the construction of about 13 modular infectious hospitals. Two large clinics are under reconstruction. 3,640 mobile medical teams are organized for citizens in city clinics. 5,098 ventilators will be delivered in the current epidemiological season. 21,566 beds will be provided with oxygen,” the minister explained.
