New method to fight cerebral accident practiced in Pavlodar
In Pavlodar specialists plan to reduce the incidence of stroke. Local surgeons have begun to conduct heart surgery according to an entirely new procedure. Doctors successfully master RF cryoablation - techniques of freezing tissues, causing arrhythmia. According to them, the medical know-how is more effectively and less risky for patients. Methodology ‘patchy freezing’ virtually eliminates the chance of damage to the blood vessels of the heart.
Royn REKVAVA, HEAD OF DEPARTMENT, SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF CARDIOLOGY AND INTERNAL MEDICINE, ALMATY:
The effectiveness of drug treatment is below 20 percent. Comparing with radiofrequency cryoablation, in average, is by 80 percent higher. Surgery improves the quality of life and the prognosis of the disease.
Advantages of the new method are provided through the use of liquid nitrogen. Surgeons freeze separately all four pulmonary veins and conduct the surgery ‘in one go’. According to experts, this approach gives greater chances of quick recovery.
Damir KAPSHAKBAYEV, HEAD OF LABORATORY, PAVLODAR CARDIOLOGY CENTER:
We plan to use this technique in daily practice, given a large number of disease cases among patients with cardiac arrhythmias.
