EXPO 2017 CLOSING CEREMONY
EXPO 2017 has officially ended in Astana. Broadcast of the large-scale show by using modern technologies lasted for two hours. Hundreds of spectators including 20 heads of states and representatives of pavilions, as well as millions of viewers around the world watched the show. The show organizers used complex engineering, staging and artistic solutions, blurring the line between light illusions, graphic projections and reality. The audience delved into the fantastic world of the future. The culmination moment was the flag descent which meant the exhibition’s official closure.
Every development presented at the exhibition can change the course of history. For instance, the tide generator, the vacuum train, the technology of processing silt into fuel or grapheme which is as thick as human hair, but can hold weight of a piano can contribute to the betterment of the world. The successful EXPO 2017 is the result of the combination of the efforts of Astana and the country’s all regions. Nursultan Nazarbayev reminded about this during his speech at the closing ceremony. According to the President, the exhibition had a positive multiplier effect and gave the impetus to the further development of Kazakhstan's economy. The Head of State also recalled that Astana awarded the City of the Future nomination according to the National Geographic. In addition, Kazakhstan entered the list of countries that are worth a visit according to the New York Times.

- More than 6,000 various events were held as part of EXPO 2017. Our country strengthened its image of dynamically developing state in the Eurasian region. EXPO contributed to effective and intensive interaction of science, business and society, positively affected the development of mutual understanding and trust between countries and peoples. The world learnt more about the rich and unique culture of Kazakhstan. Ladies and gentlemen, future energy is one of the pressing and important issues of humanity. The exhibition has become a symbolic bridge for advanced ideas and technologies in this field.
In the end, Nursultan Nazarbayev announced the official closing of Astana EXPO2017 exhibition.
