EXPO 2017: NATIONAL DAYS OF KENYA AND VIETNAM
Kenya marked its national day at EXPO 2017. Kenya successfully develops geothermal energy. Olkaria 4 geothermal plant generates electricity from the thermal resources of underground sources. Another largest national Gitaru hydropower plant covers 72 percent of Kenya's electricity demand.
CHRIS KIPTU, DEPUTY TRADE MINISTER OF KENYA:
- The development and implementation of these resources will provide an inflow of investment to our country in the future. The energy strategy and the concept "Kenya2030" require rapid access to clean and modern forms of energy to support economic and social transformation.
Republic of Nauru presented its developments at Astana EXPO 2017. It is the only country in the world that doesn’t have a capital city. The country's territory is just above 21 square kilometers. Despite its small size, the citizens have something to be proud of. A solar power station with a capacity of 500 kilowatts was built in Nauru last year. The project saves money and reduces the consumption of diesel fuel.
CHARMAINE SCOTTY, EDUCATION MINISTER OF NAURU:
- Nauru is one of the smallest countries and one of the most remote, a single isolated reefs coral equatorial island. The total area is 21 square kilometers with exclusive economic zone of 20,000 square kilomenters. There are two segments of plateaus – bottom side there is a few meters above sea level and top side.
The National Day of Vietnam was held at EXPO 2017 on the eve of a significant event, the 72nd anniversary of independence of Vietnam. This year marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Vietnam. According to the World Bank, Vietnam is the state with the largest wind power reserve in Southeast Asia.
NGUYEN NGOC THIEN, CULTURE, SPORTS AND TOURISM MINISTER OF VIETNAM:
- Vietnam is a country that is rich in various sources of energy. This is the sun, wind and biomass. Their use is included in the national energy development plan. The sun's rays shine more than 2000 hours per year in Vietnam and create the potential for the development of solar energy.
