KAZAKHSTAN AND FRANCE: FRIENDSHIP COMES FIRST
Kazakhstan and France are marking 25 years of diplomatic ties this year. The countries have nurtured friendly relations in just about every aspect of the inter-state cooperation. Inter-parliamentary ties are becoming an increasingly important and integral part of the relations between the states. In 1993, the Senate and the National Assembly of France formed groups of inter-parliamentary friendship, through which regular exchanges and visits of parliamentary delegations are carried out. The French parliamentarians show a great deal of interest in the political life of Astana and participate in the major events of the republic, including Astana Expo 2017. Yves Pozzo Di Borgo, the president of the Inter-parliamentary friendship group “France -Central Asia” and a member of the French delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe paid visit to Astana to see the international exhibition. The French senator sat down with Kazakh TV to talk about the state and prospects of the Kazakh-French ties.
