Astana Opera leading soloist Tair Gatauov dies in car accident
A leading soloist of the ‘Astana Opera’ theater Tair Gatauov was killed in a car crash. He was 36 years old.
“The staff of the ‘Astana Opera’ State Opera and Ballet Theater deeply mourns over the tragic death of the leading ballet soloist and Honored Figure of Kazakhstan Tair Gatauov Talgatovich and expresses deep condolences to his family and friends,” ‘Astana Opera’ theater wrote on its social media.
Gatauov was born in Oral. His father was also devoted to dance. He instilled the love of modern and folk dances in his son, a future star of the Kazakh ballet, since Tair’s very young age. Tair Gatauov graduated with honors from the Seleznyov Almaty Choreographic School. He also graduated from the Utemisov West Kazakhstan State University with a degree of ‘Teaching choreographer’ and Kazakh National Academy of Choreography with a master’s degree in Arts.
In 2003, Gatauov joined the Baiseitova National Opera and Ballet Theater as a soloist for ten years. In 2013, he became a leading soloist of the ‘Astana Opera’ theater.
Tair Gatauov was known not only in his homeland, he also represented Kazakhstan abroad. More than once Gatauov was a prize-winner of various international festivals in Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria and other countries. In 2012, he won the Kazakhstan state scholarship in the field of culture. In 2013, Gatauov was awarded the title of the “Honored Figure of Kazakhstan’.
