Uighur musicians perform Kazakhstan’s National Anthem
The National Anthem of Kazakhstan was performed on Uighur musical instruments such as dutar, tambir and nai. “Kogamdyk kelisim” republican state institution of Aktobe region posted a two-minute video on its page on Instagram assambleya_alemi. Representatives of the Uighur ethno-cultural association said that in this way they wanted to convey the unity of peoples living in Kazakhstan as the most valuable asset.
“I saw a video on Instagram, where Kazakh celebrities sing anthem of our country. I got an idea to shoot a similar video with Uighur celebrities to sing the Anthem to the accompaniment of their national instruments. I consulted with friends, Aziz Saiptulla and Firuza Jalalova, and then we divided lines from the Anthem to each performer. We recorded musicians who played dutar, tambir, nai and guitar at home due to the quarantine. One of the famous specialists, Ilyar Mashurov, made a huge contribution to the arrangement of the song. Thus, we wanted to convey a piece of our soul via our video,” told Dolkunzhan Shavdunov, who came up with the idea.
According to the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan website, 245,700 Uighurs are living in the country. “Republican ethno-cultural center of Uighurs of Kazakhstan” public association is a center of preserving Uighur culture, traditions and language. To date, eleven print media outlets are being published in Uighur as well as a broadcast on Kazakh Radio. Kuddus Kuzhamyarov Uighur State Theater of Musical Comedy, which is the first and only professional theater of Uighur people in the world, is operating in Almaty.
