Kazakh Nightingale Bibigul Tulegenova Celebrated her 90th Anniversary
A legendary opera singer, a “Kazakh Nightingale” Bibigul Tulegenova celebrated her 90th birthday. The anniversary event, dedicated to the Kazakh master of vocal art, took place at the prestigious Astana Opera.
Bibigul Akhmetovna, who is known for her amazing soprano, has made performances at the most prestigious venues all over the world. The audience in New York, London, Paris, Rome and Tokyo applauded her talent. The famous Gakku song, performed by her, has forever won the hearts of Kazakhstan.
Winners of the International Competition of Vocalists performed on the Astana Opera stage that night along with students of the famous singer. A prestigious competition has been proudly named after Bibigul Tulegenova.
“I know that Bibigul Tulegenova was a great soprano and she is very known all over the world. For me, it’s a great honor that I’ve won this competition, because in Italy it is very famous competition. It’s a great goal for everyone to win such a big competition. The first time I was in Kazakhstan was when I sang in the competition in Almaty. I really liked the city. This is the first time for me in the capital. I’m really happy to be here,” said Grand Prix Winner of Bibigul Tulegenova Vocal Artist Competition, Oreste Cosimo.
The evening program included arias by Kazakh and foreign composers as well as folk songs, romances and orchestral pieces.
