National Day of Dombyra to Be Celebrated for the Second Time

The National Day of Dombyra was introduced in Kazakhstan by the country’s First President, Nursultan Nazarbayev.

He believes that dombyra is a unique brand of Kazakhstan. This year, the holiday will be celebrated for the second time.  

Deputy Head of Culture and Sports Authority in Nur-Sultan city, Narima Mukhambetalina said that the National Day of Dombyra was introduced in 2018.

“This year, events in conjunction of the holiday will be held near the Kazakh Yeli monument. Preparation for concerts are underday,” she said.

The National Day of Dombyra has become popular in Kazakhstan and is widely celebrated in the country.

This year, a large concert will be held in Nur-Sultan. Performers have been extensively preparing for the event. More than 600 dombyra players will perform famous compositions on the capital’s main square.   

Last year, more than 2,000 musicians performed famous Kazakh compositions as one orchestra, in honor of the National Day of the Dombyra.  

The National Day of Dombyra is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of July based on the decree of the First President of Kazakhstan. The holiday is aimed at preservation of the Kazakh culture.
