Astana Piano Passion to be Hosted in Kazakh Capital

Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan will host the 5th competition of young pianists as part of the international Astana Piano Passion classical music festival.

The event will be curated by outstanding pianist, Denis Matsuev.

This year, 114 musicians have submitted their applications, including one-third of submissions from Russia and 20 from Kazakhstan.

Other applicants are from China, Australia, Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Canada, South Korea, Mongolia, the United States and other countries.

“This is a big scale event, which can be compared to the Tchaikovsky competition, which starts next month. I will be the chairperson of the jury and will access the works of the pianists. It is a great honor for me,” virtuoso pianist and chairperson of the jury, Denis Matsuev said.

According to organizers, the Astana Piano Passion is set to discover new talents and promote Kazakh piano music worldwide.

According to the terms of the competition, all of the participants have to perform works created by Kazakh composers.
