Application for Altyn Oimaq Republican Competition Opens until September

The upcoming Altyn Oimaq Republican Competition has received applications from 50 Kazakh designers.

One of the applicants includes Irina Neibart, a professional accountant who has always been passionate about creating handicrafts.

She is skilled in knitting and embroidery and became one of the best designers in Atyrau.

Another participant is Gulzipa Makhanova. She is skilled at using traditional ornaments as clothes decorations.

“This competition provides a great opportunity for beginners like me. I support the idea of the organizers to promote traditional clothes among the society,” she said.

There are six nominations in the Altyn Oimaq competition, including the best design for business attire, sportswear, children’s wear, home textile, accessories and sport shoes. Each designer can apply for two nominations.

The main goal of the contest is to promote national brands and support the light industry sector.

Altyn Oimaq project leader, Diana Botayeva said that regional designers require great motivation and professional skills in order to start mass production of their clothes.

“Currently, they are mainly engaged in making one-off pieces. Therefore, it is very important for us to let them demonstrate their creativity,” she said.

There are no age restrictions or professional experience limitations in the competition. Applications are opened until September and the winner will be announced on December 25th.
