The film ‘Ayka’ won the grand prize at the 28th international film festival in Germany

The film ‘Ayka’ starring Kazakh actress Samal Yeslyamova won the grand prize at the 28th international film festival in Germany. In addition to the main award, the film also won the jury prize. Film director Sergei Dvortsevoy brought ‘Ayka’ to Cottbus in Germany. The story of a migrant worker and her hardships in Moscow amazed the German public. The audience commented that the movie touched their soul (given the talented act by the Kazakh actress).  The work of Samal Yeslyamova was highly appreciated at the Cannes Film Festival and she earned the title of ‘Best Actress.’190 films from 40 countries competed for the main award in Germany.

 - I have been participating in film festivals for many years now. When I was preparing to shoot ‘Ayka,’ I realized that it was necessary to film her, although she was not Kyrgyz, she had to play Kyrgyz and learn the language, but I was absolutely confident that Samal has a truly big talent!
