The search for potential presenters of the Junior Eurovision was held in Belarus
The selection process for Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 is still ongoing.
The search for potential presenters of the event was held at a live casting in Belarus among 32 candidates. The applicants were evaluated by invited experts, including the director of the contest, Gordon Bonello who flew from Malta to attend the casting. The experienced professional has organized the Eurovision event since 2014.
GORDON BONELLO, SHOW DIRECTOR, JUNIOR EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2018:
- To improvise that’s very important for Junior Eurovision. How much a person is concentrated especially during the voting part. Because the voting part at that point in time the presenter will have the burden and the waiting for like 20 countries
Potential presenters from Belarus and other countries have submitted their video applications for one month. The applicants were preparing for the performance before showcasing their skills on stage.
ANDREI GRISHKOV, CASTING CONTENDER:
- Before going to the studio, I just take three deep breaths. Sometimes, I just make some verbal exercises to warm up.
YULIYA KURASH, CASTING CONTENDER:
- The verbal warm-ups helped develop my articulation. Before my performance, I made a number of verbal warm-ups. My favourite tongue twister is the longest one.
English proficiency is the main requirement for the presenters. The applicants learned from instructors, attended courses and even went abroad to practice English in order to participate in the casting. The presenters will have to be able to capture viewers’ attention with their phrases. The jury evaluated the contenders’ skills and will make a decision based on the videos filmed in high definition. They will select one, two, three or even four presenters.
IVAN EISMONT, GENERAL PRODUCER, JUNIOR EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2018:
- Today, I was pleasantly surprised. Many contenders of this casting presented very good performances. According to Europeans, some of the contenders speak English fluently. Therefore, I am very happy with the casting, because we have a variety of choice.
Kazakhstan will participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 for the first time. Talented children aged between 9 and 14 will compete in the national search for the right to represent Kazakhstan at the prestigious contest. The international finale will be held on November 25 in the capital of Belarus, Minsk. The show will be exclusively broadcasted in Kazakhstan by Channel Khabar.
