The first festival of amateur theaters was held in Astana
The first festival of amateur theaters was held in Astana. The event featured diverse genres and staging styles and exchange of experience. There are currently dozens of amateur studios operating in Kazakhstan. Many of them participated and won in the republican and international competitions. According to the Head of the ‘Sovremennik’ Folk Youth Theater, Natalya Smetskaya it is very important to organize such events. It will give Kazakh spectators the opportunity to learn more about the unique performances of folk actors. Therefore, the organizers decided that the festival will have no specific theme. The performers just need to express themselves and reveal their talents.
NATALYA SMETSKAYA, HEAD OF THEATER:
- At this festival, the young people exchange experiences and learn from one another. At festivals participants usually show only an excerpt of about 15 to 20 minutes. However, they are showing their full performances here. The jury gives their evaluations and opinions.
BAUYRZHAN TOGYZBAI, THEATER ACTOR:
- Our students participated in master classes. Chairman of the jury, people’s artist of Kyrgyzstan Sergei Matveyev held a lecture for the participants and shared his experience. There are prize-winning positions and the grand prize holder will receive a financial support. The sum may not be large, but we are set to support amateur theaters.
