Kazakh journalists and media workers celebrated their professional holiday. On the eve of this event, the best journalists were honored in the country. Nearly 200 participants submitted more than 800 works for the 9th ‘Nur Sunkar’ republican competition. Kazakh Minister of Information and Communication Dauren Abayev awarded Timur Kazagulov with the ‘Best TV Journalist - Khalyk Dauysy’ which was the first out of ten nominations.
TIMUR KAZAGULOV, WINNER OF BEST TELEVISION JOURNALIST:
- I was confident that I did quite well since I put my soul in it when I worked on the project. I’m delighted to see that the party led by our President organizes such competitions and pays attention to journalists from provinces, regions and small towns. This gives us motivation, self-confidence and strength to produce better work.
Contestants were awarded with nominations such as ‘Best Print Journalist’ ‘Best Internet Journalist’ and ‘Best coverage of Nur Otan party projects.’ The Nur Otan political party provided three special prizes for winners who covered the implementation of President Nazarbayev’s five initiatives.
MAULEN ASHIMBAEV, DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON, NUR OTAN PARTY:
- You probably know that the President of our country announced the goal for Kazakhstan to join the list of 30 developed countries. Media are also responsible to help achieve this goal. It could become an actual challenge without the hard work of journalists to build a united society around the strategy.
14 journalists became winners of national award "Urker". This year the national award event was held in conjunction with the 105th anniversary of Kazakh newspaper. There were two new nominations this year, which are ‘The Best Material Dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of the Capital’ and ‘The Best Vine.’
YEVGENY KOCHETOV, CHAIRPERSON, KAZCONTENT:
- The total number of followers for the nominees of the ‘Best Vine’ is five million on Instagram. We recognize the scale of the audience and realize that it cannot be ignored. Look at them. They are among those who walk the red carpet now.
