Beijing, celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of Kazakh writer, Magzhan Zhumabayev
Beijing, celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of Kazakh writer, Magzhan Zhumabayev. The city hosted the event as part of the Modernization of Kazakhstan’s Identity program. The event, dedicated to the great poet was attended by Chinese students and scientists.
Researcher of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Wang Xioyu, had translated several poems of Magzhan Zhumabayev into Chinese language.
WANG XIAOYU, RESEARCHER OF CHINESE ACADEMY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES:
- I read Magzhan Zhumabayev’s poems recently and liked them. I tried translating them into Chinese. His poems are very beautiful with a deep meaning, aspiration to freedom and patriotism.
At the poetic event, students of Kazakhstan’s Center at the Renmin University of China recited Magzhan Zhumabayev’s poems and researchers presented reports on his life and works.

- I think that we should continue hosting interesting events to commemorate poets and writers, cultural figures and prominent individuals of Kazakhstan and China. Thus, we are strengthening cultural exchange between our countries.
Meanwhile, the organization of TURKSOY has declared 2018 as the year of Magzhan Zhumabayev. Over 250 events dedicated to the life and works of the founder of the new Kazakh literature will be held in the Turkic-speaking countries.
