Nazarbayev Center is a unique building of Astana
Astana is known for its unique architectural structures. One of the bright and unusual buildings is the Nazarbayev Center. Annually more than two hundred thousand people visit the center. People come to use the Library of the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Here, they can see the archival photos, books and gifts presented to the president, like the hologram with orders and medals and other awards.
DINARA ZHAISENBAYEVA, SPOKESPERSON, LIBRARY OF FIRST PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:
- This is a medal necklace of the great Badra. In 2004 Saudi Arabia awarded our President Nursultan Nazarbayev. He is the only leader of the Commonwealth of Independent States who got the highest award of Saudi Arabia.
The Nazarbayev Center pays much attention to the patriotic education of the young people. Excursions and educational seminars are organized specially for the country’s schoolchildren.
Exhibits and information are available to all in the interactive educational center. The entrance to the building is free. The Nazarbayev Center is open on the weekends.
MADIYAR DUSPULOV, STUDENT:
- I was surprised by the cups which Iran donated to Kazakhstan. Perhaps, the cups are two meters tall. They are incredibly tall and beautiful. They are most likely made of iron.
The building of the centre has an unusual shape. According to the plan of the British architect Norman Foster, a huge eye looking to the sky symbolizes the power of independent Kazakhstan. The total area of the complex is more than 30,000 square meters. The uniqueness of this building is a special design of the roof made of glass, thanks to which the light and the heat of the sun come inside. The fund of the First President of Kazakhstan is located in the same building.
