Astana opera to go on tour to Italy
Kazakhstan’s leading theater Astana Opera is setting off on another overseas tour. This time the ballet troupe will perform at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa with their production of «Notre Dame de Paris". The production of the world’s choreographic masterpiece belongs to the famous ballet master Luigi Bonino. The Kazakh artists are currently actively rehearsing, preparing for the tour. The Italian public will see an exact copy of the play created in 1965 by the legendary choreographer Roland Petit. However, according to the ballet dancers of the Astana Opera, they will add national motifs in their performance.
BAKHTIYAR ADAMZHAN, LEADING BALLET DANCER, ASTANA OPERA:
- We will bring in Kazakh motifs, Kazakh worldview to this performance. Our ballet dancers will show a different Esmeralda, more easternized. They add something personal to the performance, their grace, their allurement and beauty. Kazakhstan is now developing rapidly in all spheres; and sports and culture are the visiting card of a country, that's why we support this idea. To be honest, the feeling of patriotism, the pride for showing our ballet, our troupe and our country abroad boosts up our enthusiasm and makes us enjoy our work and life.
The Italian audience will be able to enjoy the production for two days. Two teams of the troupe will participate in the tour. The role of Esmeralda will be played by Aigerim Beketayeva and Madina Basbaeva, Quasimodo will be played by Bakhtiyar Adamzhan and Rustem Seitbekov. Astana Opera ballet troupe has already performed on the stage of Teatro Carlo Felice in 2015. Then the Kazakh artists successfully presented the play "Spartacus" by Aram Khachaturian.
