Festival of Kazakh culture in Russia
Festival of Kazakh culture in Russia brought together more than 10,000 participants. It was held in Astrakhan region bordering with Kazakhstan.
Horse and camel racing are traditionally considered one of the main events of any Kazakh holiday. Astrakhan region residents and guests from other parts of Russia enjoyed the show. In the ethnic village, everyone could learn about culture and traditions of the nomadic people. Ethnic Kazakhs, especially young people, had an opportunity to see how their ancestors lived, Russians learnt about the distinctive traditions of Central Asia.

- The festival has deep meaning. It is not just horse racing and a festive event but cultural rapprochement. Representatives of other nationalities can see the Kazakh national clothing, Kazakh culture and traditions, see how baursaks and beshbarmak are cooked and the head is served.
Pyotr Anissimov came to festival to videotape the celebration. He believes that people should know about the culture of their neighbors.

- Our region is multinational. It is interesting to learn about other cultures. We live peacefully here. It is easier to communicate with other nations when you are familiar with their culture. There should be more such events. They are very informative and entertaining.
Kazakh, Russian, Kalmyk music was performed at the festival. Musicians came from all the districts and villages of Astrakhan region. The concert’s headliner was People's Artist of Kazakhstan Roza Rymbayeva.
