HISTORICAL EXPEDITION UNDERWAY
Members of the Kyzylorda Regional Assembly of the Kazakh people presented the idea of Kazakhstani patriotism in a new format. As part of the Tugan zher program, representatives of ethno-cultural associations organized a historical and informative expedition to ancient cities. The route began from the ancient Otyrar settlement. The site’s history is almost two millennia of prosperity and decline. During the 12th century, the endless raids of the Dzungars and Mongols of Genghis Khan turned the blooming city into ruins. The first archaeological excavations were started 40 years ago. During this time, 25, 000 valuable exhibits have been found in Otyrar. Works on the conservation of the facility has been continued.
This is Turkestan. Members of the expedition visited the mausoleums of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and Arystan Bab in the cultural capital of the Turkic world.
GALINA SHERBAKOVA, HEAD, SLAVS ETHNO-CULTURAL CENTER:
- We should know the history of our native land thoroughly, what our ancestors did and to visit the sites where people lived. Therefore, not only representatives of the older generation are present in today's project, but also young people take part in this expedition.
The route of the expedition is full of destinations. The next goal is the Sauran hillfort.
LYAILYA TORESHOVA, HEAD, SECRETARIAT OF KYZYLORDA REGION, ASSEMBLY OF PEOPLE OF KAZAKHSTAN:
- The main goal is to strengthen Kazakhstan's identity and national unity based on understanding of our people’s historical, cultural and spiritual heritage. The project showed that the history of our people is a unifying and consolidating factor. Society can’t exist without spiritual values and cultural heritage.
The final destination of the route is the ancient Syganak city. To sum up, the organizers confidently say that the project will continue and soon the next expedition will begin.
