KAZAKH BALLET ARTISTS WIN INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
Kazakh ballet dancers won two prestigious dance competitions. Astana Opera leading soloist Bakhtiyar Adamzhan won the highest award of the international choreographic competition in Moscow. Another talented artist Serik Nakyspekov received a diploma. Ballet dancers’ competition is traditionally held in Bolshoi Theatre and has a rich history. The competition revealed a big number of outstanding ballet dancers from around the world such as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Misa Kuranaga, Thiago Soares and Evgenia Obraztsova. This year, 170 artists from different countries took part in the competition.
BAKHTIYAR ADAMZHAN, LEADING BALLET SOLOIST, ASTANA OPERA:
- This is a high rank competition, I think, this is the most difficult ballet competition, many call it the ballet Olympiad. It was necessary to show the level of our theater, and that I won several competitions before.
The second stage of the competition was the famous Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition in New York. Bakhtiyar Adamzhan won Grand Prix in the ‘classical dancing’ nomination. Serik Nakyspekov took the third place.
SERIK NAKYSPEKOV, BALLET SOLOIST, ASTANA OPERA:
- The Moscow competition was much harder than the one in New York. We were lucky enough to have an opportunity to see what we are capable of in the U.S. competition before going to Moscow.
Kazakh ballet dancers received offers to dance in the prestigious stages of the world. However, the artists see their future in Astana Opera theatre.
