FRENCH MUSIC AT EXPO 2017
As part of the Astana EXPO 2017, France has prepared a rich cultural program for the people of Kazakhstan. Famous conductor, Philippe Hui conducted a classical music concert in Astana. Under the direction of the maestro, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Astana gave a dynamic concert program which included the iconic masterpieces of the European and Kazakh composers.

- Philippe Hui is a conductor of the 50's generation; he is a talented director and a well-rounded man who travels a lot. He is the one who created an open air opera in France 10 years ago.
As part of the concert program, a remarkable work of the French classical repertoire, Symphony in D minor by Cesar Franck was performed for the first time in Kazakhstan. Two French soloists, violinist Hugues Borsarello and cellist Gauthier Herrmann joined the orchestra to perform the famous composition.

- I have to congratulate you, Kazakhstan, to offer this opportunity and to show you something rare, a combination of skills and talents between the Astana Symphony Orchestra, applause please [the ambassador points to the performers]. And some of the finest experts in conducting orchestra, I mean Philipp Hui, [applause] and I mean two French soloists, we are very happy for you to appreciate tonight Gauthier Herrmann who plays a cello and Hugues Borsarello who plays a violin [applause].
The concert had a symbolic name "From Astana 2017 to Paris 2025". France is bidding to host the world’s fair. Paris (France) along with Osaka (Japan), Baku (Azerbaijan) and Yekaterinburg (Russia) will compete to host the World Expo 2025.
