International accordion contest "Gold Accordion" was held in Astana
Young virtuoso accordionists from all over Kazakhstan have demonstrated their mastery. Gold Accordion international contest has been held in Astana for the second time. Fifty contestants from all over the country aged between 7 and 20 have competed against each other to obtain the title of the best performer. The contestants have demonstrated their technique, ingenuity and artistry in a two staged casting.
NURLAN IZMAILOV, JURY, HONORED FIGURE OF KAZAKHSTAN:
- The festival is held in a popular music genre. According to the terms of the competition, every performer had a chance to perform solo. Then, the performers had to play with a musical accompaniment like waltz and tango.
There were four different age groups consisted of contestants. Each group had to choose the winner. In the youngest age category Mazhit Shakirov was titled the best performer.
MAZHIT SHAKIROV, WINNER:
- I’m from the town of Talgar. I graduated from a music school. To be honest, I wasn’t confident that I can beat such strong contestants but, well, in general, I’m glad to be the winner. Many thanks to the members of the jury who supported me.
Gold Accordion contest had a large-scale gala concert in its closing ceremony held in Astana, featuring famous songs of the Second World War time.
