Astana hosted the International Festival "Astana Piano Passion"
Astana hosted the fourth international classical music festival Astana Piano Passion. 30 pianists from 28 countries took part in the festival this year. Prominent and young musicians have been performing the best pieces of classical music by Kazakh and foreign composers during the one week festival. They gave 9 concerts that have been watched online by nearly 20,000 spectators around the globe.
DENIS MATSUYEV, COMPETITION’S ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:
- As usual, these 7 days have passed at a frantic pace. It was nothing else but the festive event. I congratulate everyone because it’s quite an achievement but it’s a pity that it came to an end. It can be said that this festival spotlighted several young and extremely talented musicians. Each of them has already become famous.
The competition’s total prize fund is $60,000. Special prizes were prepared for various nominations. Kazakhstani Klim Pak won the money prize of Astana Mayor. Two Kazakhstanis took part in the Astana Piano Passion.
KLIM PAK, contestant:
- I performed the minuet and toccata Le Tombeau de Couperin by Ravel, Mirage by Gaziza Zhubanova and the fantasy-sonnet After Reading Dante by Liszt. They are close to me in spirit.
The participants, who received a special award from the contest’s art director Denis Matsuev, will be able to take part in "Crescendo", "Stars on Baikal" and "Annecy Classic" international competitions. In addition, the festival winners will perform in the next Astana Piano Passion, which will be held as part of EXPO 2017 in Astana.
